Sensei High began karate instruction in Kansas in 1993 at the University of Kansas (KU). Relocated to Lawrence by the United States Army to pursue a Masters degree, he established a karate club and a credit-granting course at the University. After graduating from KU, Sensei High opened a dojo in Lenexa, Kansas in November 1994.
Sensei High began martial arts training in 1965 with Aikikai under Harry Ishisaka, and karate with Kiyoshi Yamazaki in 1972. Having taught karate since 1976, Sensei High also holds a Shodan in Yoshinkan Aikido. He concurrently trains in the Japanese sword arts of Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu, Mugai Ryu and a system derived from Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu. Sensei High is a member of the International Board of Directors for Japan Karate-Do Ryobukai, and conducts seminars in karate and sword arts in various locations in the United States as well as abroad.
